Boat - ASA Course 110 -
Medicine Lake
Northern Breezes Sailing School offers you a fast track Learn to
Sail course on Medicine Lake. This is a two-session, 6-hour
course. Classes are taught by Northern Breezes Sailing School
instructors certified by the American Sailing Association (ASA).
Class size is limited to two students. These are almost private
lessons and are very family friendly.
Each student will receive the book Sailing Made Easy, published
by the American Sailing Association, an ASA logbook, and DVD
prior to the start of class.
Course Outline
Day 1: Getting Underway, Tacking, Jibing,
Points of Sail, Steering, Sail Trim, Docking, Securing the Boat.
Day 2: Review Day 1, Reefing, Crew Overboard Drill
(COB), Solo Checkout,
Written Exam.
Course Fee: $195; includes two 3-hour
on-the-water sessions, DVD, textbook, logbook and ASA
certification (upon successful completion).
Family and Friends: Class size is limited to
two students per boat. These are very family friendly. A family
of six for example might put 3 people on each boat with an
instructor but only certify one or two of them per boat. It is
like taking your twelve year old on an educational sailing event
without expectations but with lots of experiential learning!
This is a great mother - daughter / father - son option. You
pick the combination!
Classes are cancelled and rescheduled during storm advisory or
rain days. Upon completion, graduates will receive ASA
certification, a Certificate of Completion and qualify for
several discounts.

Class Location
Medicine Lake: Take Hwy 169 North to 42nd Ave/Rockford Rd.
Exit on Rockford Rd. Take a left at the stop lights. Follow
Rockford Rd. about a mile. You will see French Park on your left
with a sign on your right. Turn left. Follow down to the lake.
The class meets at the sailboat docks, east of the swimming beach.
Instructor to Student Ratio is One to Two Maximum!

We are flexible. If you would like day classes, private lessons,
rides, refresher, etc., please call. This is especially
applicable to this class.
Medicine Lake, MN courses:
2018 Class Schedule: 6 hour course.
Choose from Morning, Afternoon or Evening; and Weekday or Weekend.
Classes meet for two 3-hour sessions.
Evening Classes are scheduled to end by Civil Twilight.
Schedule may need to be modified based on availability of instructors and boats.
