Flotilla sailing allows you to sail on big boats either as a skipper or as individual crew.

Most skippers are recent graduates who like the idea of having an experienced sailing instructor on a nearby boat. Often a quick review of anchoring or reefing techniques, the navigation for the day and boat systems is most of our involvement. Chartering a flotilla boat as skipper with your own crew is less expensive than chartering independent of the flotilla because of our special arrangements with the charter company.

So what can you do if you can't put your own crew together, or are not at the experience level to charter by yourself? We offer places on our flotilla boats, skippered by one of our experienced instructors. This year it will be Captain Thom Burns and Captain Steve Burns. There is no formal training going on, but flotilla crew will get many opportunities to hone their skills. The flotilla is designed for fun, experience and sailing without any formal training expectations on either the instructor/skipper or you as a flotilla crew. We invite you to join us during our Flotilla Week Feb 27-Mar 5, Mar 5-Mar 12, Mar 12-Mar 19, Mar 19-Mar 26, 2008.

Tropical Cruise And Two-Level Bareboat Charter Certification

During the Flotilla Cruise weeks are 6 1/2-day live-aboard courses held aboard 40’ cruising auxiliary sloops in the British Virgin Islands. Basic Cruising students will complete 8 hours of shore school and written test before the cruise. Bareboat Cruising students will learn all skills and complete written test onboard during the cruise. Cruising Multihull students will learn all skills and complete written test onboard during the cruise.  Successful candidates will receive ASA certification upon completion.
