Wisconsin. Bareboat Charter Certification - Part 2: ASA Course 104Bareboat Charter Certification is taught by U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains on Lake Superior. Qualified graduates will become bareboat charter certified from 30 to 45 feet. This is a two-day live-aboard course normally held on a 36' cruising auxiliary sailboat on Lake Superior. Normally, we anchor out on Saturday night. Students learn to maneuver the boat under power, dock, anchor, and navigate in differing weather conditions. Successful candidates will receive bareboat charter certification upon completion. Instructor is ASA certified as well as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain. Course Outline: Day 1: Safety Orientation, Boat Systems, Docking & Getting Underway, Setting Sails, Reefing, Heaving To, Crew Overboard Drill, Anchoring. Day 2: Review Day One, Navigation, Emergency Procedures, Cruising Tips, Written Exam. Students should bring clothing for all weather conditions, sleeping bag, towel, and navigation instruments if you have them. Meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch are provided onboard. Call for special assignment to one of the vacation sessions. *** Once in a
while on a case by case basis this course is conducted on Saturday and Sunday with preboarding on Friday evening.
Student must have completed 101/103 or successfully challenged
these courses. - Includes book, Cruising
Fundamentals, exam and ASA certification. Course Fee: 2
day including some meals: $495 (Bayfield). Prerequisite for this course: Basic Cruising ASA 103 and Basic Keelboat ASA 101 Students
with extensive experience, but without ASA certifications may
have the prerequisites waived on a case by case basis.
