As part of the 54th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, the Melges Classes were the absolute centerpiece of an outstanding event that captured the attention of fans worldwide and more than 25,000 boat show visitors. With the racing being broadcast live back to shore, the audience of the show was able to watch on the big screen at the Sea Theatre.
"Being here in Genoa at the International Boat Show was an exceptional experience that has allowed us all to be truly at the center of our world. We have to thank once again Audi and BPSE who made this opportunity possible," said Luisa Bambozzi, General Manager of Melges Europe. "The format of the Melges Team Race was innovative and has received unanimous support among the crews. This success will push us to propose this formula again in the future. Now we do not go on vacation, but we prepare for the Melges 32 winter sailing circuit which will be based in Cala Galera for five monthly races, while the Audi Melges 20 will race with the same format in Monte Carlo. Also - the Melges 32 World Championship will be held in Florida, USA this December."
The event commenced on Friday, 3 October and concluded on Sunday, 5 October. In unison with the show, the final act of the 2014 Melges 32 Audi-Tron Sailing Series took place, and the first ever edition of Melges Team Racing was held - reserving spots on race teams comprised of only the best crews in the Audi Melges 20, Melges 24 and Melges 32.

At the end of the event, the overall standings granted first place to team Asante Sana which included Melges 32 Spirit of Nerina, Melges 24 Altea and Audi Melges 20 of the same name, Asante Sana.
