NAT’S GPIRB RECEIVES WORLD’S 1ST GPS-EPIRB APPROVAL

Northern Airborne Technology (NAT) announced that it has received COSPAS-SARSAT Certificate #102 for approval of its SATFIND-406™ GPIRB Emergency Beacon. NAT’s GPIRB (Global Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is the first 406 MHz GPS-EPIRB to be approved and is the only one available in the world today.

The addition of GPS latitude and longitude data to the standard emergency signal transmitted by 406 MHz EPIRBs greatly increases rescue speed by providing rescue forces with enhanced positioning information. Coast Guards and international rescue organizations regard this as a significant advancement in emergency rescue electronics and safety.

The SATFIND-406™ GPIRB™ meets or exceeds the stringent specifications for transmission performance in adverse environmental conditions mandated by COSPAS-SARSAT, the international organization and authority for the rescue satellite network.
