Better Business Bureau serving Greater Maryland announces the addition of nine new members to its 2013-2014 board of directors. After completion of a half-day BBB Board Orientation this week, the new members, who were elected in September or are serving partial terms, are now ready to assume their role with the Baltimore-based organization. read more

New Survey Shows Online Shoppers Value Trust Symbols
Is Your Company Using BBB's Dynamic Seal?

According to a recent Bizrate study, nearly a third of shoppers said they look for an online trust symbol-such as McAfee Secure, BBB Accredited Business and Customer Certified-when making their initial purchase on a retail web site.

Bizrate also found that 48% of online shoppers clicked a "trust symbol" at least once to verify a retailer's information, and that 75% have clicked symbols revealing a retailer's consumer ratings and reviews when deciding on a purchase. read more

BBB Warns Real Estate Offices About Targeted Scam

Real estate offices and agents are being warned of a phishing scam that targets them. The messages are fake Better Business Bureau emails that claim the company is being investigated, and threaten legal action if the receiver does not respond with more information. read more
